Shari-Lyn Safir talked about the A-Z's of growing gorgeous roses organically and how to grow winning roses in one's own yard.
February 13, 2012 - The Importance of Bee-ing
Cathy Kozma talked about why gardeners need to know about bees, how to support them and tips on designing a bee-friendly garden.
March 12, 2012 - Building of Canada's Newest Horticultural Playground
Darren Heimbecker, of Whistling Gardens located near Brantford, talked about creating the most amazing botanical garden with what could very well be the largest collection of conifers in the world! It includes nearly 2,000 species, hybrids and varieties as well as a focus on unique plants for collectors and gardeners who want something different.

Frank Kershaw talked about design elements and techniques used to make a small garden seem larger and more dramatic.
May 14, 2012 - Shade Gardening - Beyond Hostas
Linda McLeod talked about using both domestic and native perennial plants and ferns in a shaded environment.

Ken Brown defined what it takes to be a “plant parent", a role which demands an understanding of how light and water, and various pests, affect indoor plants.
February 14, 2011 - February Potluck Dinner
Lorraine Mennen, of Pathways to Perennials, discussed natural insect controls to combat the worst pests in your lawn and garden.
March 14, 2011 - Water Gardens
Jake Hudson of Vandermeer Nursery explained how elements like water, stone, plants and wildlife can create another world in your garden.
April 11, 2011 - The Global Forest
We discovered how trees communicate, breathe, reproduce, provide shelter, medicine and food. Dr. Diana Beresford-Kroeger connected the disparate elements of the natural world from a tree’s perspective.

We explored your inner gardener with Vicki Taylor-Scott who solved many of our gardening problems with experience, tenacity and laughter.

Peterborough Master Gardener, Dawn Tack, showed us how to choose long bloomers to enhance all of our garden’s spaces.
June 19, 2011 - Summer Garden Tours
First flush of roses! All tours start at 1:00 p.m. and we travel as a group.
June 27, 2011 - Strawberry Social & Silent Auction
LVIV Hall, 38 Lviv Blvd. Starting at 6:30, local musicians entertained us on the classical guitar and flute as we checked out the silent auction items and the used garden books and used current novels. Dessert was served at 7:30. Tickets are $5.00. Members and guests welcome.

September 12, 2011 - Garden Photography
Popular garden photographer, Marilyn Cornwell, presented an evening of evocative images. Her own conservatory and heritage garden can attest to her passion for preserving garden memories with fine details of colour, texture, pattern and form.
October 17, 2011 - Preparing for the Big Freeze
Horticulturist and media personality, Charlie Dobbin, tackled tips to help us prepare our gardens to survive winter’s unpredictable freezing and thawing.
November 14, 2011 - Alliums and Elections
All enjoyed the Allium workshop and the new Board was elected at the AGM with three new members. Two vice-president positions remain open.
December 5, 2011 - Annual Christmas Social
Members and their guests were invited to join us at 6:30 pm on Monday, December 5 for our annual Christmas Social. The theme for this year's potluck was "Sweets and Savouries".
2010 Past Club Events
December 2010 - OGC Celebrates Holidays and the New Year!
There were large crowds at the December dessert potluck, including members with contributions to the vast dessert table. A large pile of canned food and dry goods was also collected for St. Vincent de Paul. Many thanks to all involved!
November 2010 - Welcome OGC's New Board
Volunteering on the OGC Board of Directors is a significant commitment and symbolic of how important gardening is in a person’s life. Our Board Members seem to give 120% of their time and energy, not only to all of the administrative details of running a large club, but to all of our programs and projects. These range from elaborate bus trips and potlucks to community plantings. Board and Committees
